The long awaited refurbishments to the Reading Room are now complete! A legacy from Beryl Threadkell and funding from Seafarers UK, formerly The King George’s Fund for Sailors, have enabled us to carry out essential works, which include improved toilet facilities, a display area for our many reference books, and a much needed storage cupboard. Thank you for that most welcome assistance.
The work began on 3rd January and was competed well inside schedule. Many thanks to Stephen Wells, Fred Assmann, Peter Orfeur and Lennie Townsend for co-ordinating the moving and temporary storage of the Reading Room’s exhibits and books, and to Duncan’s Builders for bringing the job in under schedule.
